Fall 2022 Newsletter

We envision a world with zero breast cancer.
Donate Now!

Dear Friend,

At Zero Breast Cancer, October is about more than awareness of breast cancer. It is our mission to turn the latest scientific evidence into actionable steps that people can take to improve their own and their communities’ health and wellness. While there are no guarantees that someone will not get breast cancer or have it recur, we can be proactive to reduce our risk and have better outcomes.

We would love it if you would honor Breast Cancer Awareness month by sharing our print or online educational resources with the people you care about most:

  • Healthy Futures for kids ages 5-7
  • Girls’ New Puberty for parents/caregivers of young girls
  • 13 Ways to Reduce Your Risk of Breast Cancer for teens and up
  • Generations for teens and up
  • Survivorship Factsheets for anyone who has had a breast cancer diagnosis
  • Webinars on health equity in breast cancer
  • Webinars on health and wellness for breast cancer survivors

Our action-oriented resources are made possible by the generosity of our wonderful community of volunteers, fundraisers, and donors. Thank you to everyone who has shown up for Zero Breast Cancer as part of our Dipsea Hike. With just over $96,000 raised, we are so close to reaching our goal of $100,000! Would you consider donating to Team Wareham to have your contribution matched up to $5,000? Their match and donations toward the event end on October 31. Thank you for your support!

Read on for more resources and updates. On behalf of everyone at Zero Breast Cancer, I hope you have a wonderful fall!

Healthy Futures Activity Book

Zero Breast Cancer's Healthy Futures Activity Book empowers kids ages 5-7 to improve their own health and gives caregivers tools to support healthy behaviors. While the Healthy Futures program focuses on healthy behaviors and does not bring up puberty or breast cancer, its goal is to reduce the risk of early puberty and lifetime breast cancer risk. Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book

English Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book

Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book is widely referred to as the breast cancer “bible.” It was first released in 1990, then revised every five years until 2015 (6th edition) with the most up-to-date information available at the time. We are reviewing it now because it is currently in the top 20 breast cancer books on Amazon and is one of the most comprehensive breast cancer books around. Read the review.

El Libro de la Mama de la Dra. Susan Love

Heart Health & Breast Cancer Webinar

Breast and other cancer treatments can cause heart and artery diseases, which need to be identified and treated. Some may even be prevented. Watch the recording to hear from two cardiologists who work with people diagnosed with breast cancer and a panel of experts to learn about who is affected, common signs and symptoms, and how they are working to prevent and manage cancer-related cardiovascular diseases. Check out our Heart Health Webinar Expanded Q & A blog for more.
