PATRICIA KENDALL
Medical Group Administrator
Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Medical Center

The 2011 Community Leadership Award is presented to Patricia Kendall, RN, Medical Group Administrator of the Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Medical Center. Pat is being recognized for her visionary leadership of the Healthy Marin Partnership, for her tireless advocacy for breast cancer patients and the physicians and staff who treat them, and for supporting research to prevent the disease.

A former nurse manager of emergency services, Pat supports both physicians and staff in the delivery of quality care to Kaiser members and she is known to "go the extra mile” for patients and programs. A citizen-administrator, Pat was instrumental in forming an alliance of hospitals and public institutions working together in the Healthy Marin Partnership with the goal of promoting a healthier community.

Pat's legendary accomplishments have ranged from presidency of the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce, to serving on the boards of the North Bay Leadership Council and MCOE School to Career Partnership, to supporting the Marin Community Clinics and programs that provide healthcare to the uninsured. According to her colleagues, her greatest leadership strength is that of active listener, which she also views as fundamental to the “intimate nature of seeking health care." A former thespian, Pat understands her leadership role as directing a finely tuned production aimed at serving the greater good. From Pat's perspective, recognition for achievement comes with the responsibility to continue to improve community health and the lives of women facing breast cancer.

Zero Breast Cancer is pleased to present the Shining Star Award to Patricia Kendall, RN, for her leadership and humanitarian contributions in Marin County and the North Bay.
