Zero Breast Cancer (ZBC) is a Marin County-based nonprofit founded in 1995 that promotes breast cancer risk reduction through the translation of scientific research that supports health and wellness at key stages of life. We share this information with underserved young people and breast cancer survivors throughout the world, from California to New York and Guam to Mexico.

ZBC is announcing that Executive Director Genevieve Gandal is leaving ZBC. We all wish Ms. Gandal well in her future endeavors and thank her for her continued commitment to ZBC's success. Ms. Gandal led the organization beginning in July 2019. She was responsible for improving ZBC’s infrastructure and creating the ‘virtual’ Dipsea Hike that will run during the month of September. We hope that you will all join us for this important event.

Ms. Gandal's departure was due to the current and continually evolving economic uncertainty. The organization will be focusing resources on program delivery for the foreseeable future.

In ZBC’s 25th year, the organization carries on a long and distinguished track record working with scientists and community members to turn scientific knowledge into information people can use, especially those with fewer resources. We continue to serve as the community partner on research grants with Kaiser Permanente’s Department of Research and the Child Health and Development Studies. In these and other projects, we engage study participants and target groups to create and disseminate effective breast cancer risk reduction messages. ZBC maintains collaborations with diverse organizations and community members in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond to share our multilingual educational campaigns.

The members of the Board of Directors are dedicated to guiding and supporting a very accomplished staff through this transition as we move into the next chapter of Zero Breast Cancer envisioning a world without breast cancer.
