A medical oncologist with a special interest in breast cancer, Dr. Bobbie Head was nominated for the 2008 Healing Professional award by many of her patients and colleagues. As a Marin General Hospital staff physician for more than twenty years, Dr. Head is a leader in the development of clinical quality outcomes for cancer treatment and is affiliated with a number of regional and national cancer clinical research trials programs. She has chaired the Breast Health Task Force of the Marin Cancer Institute (MCI) in Greenbrae and is the physician champion working with nurse navigator, Cindi Cantril on MCI's joint cancer survivorship program with California Cancer Care.

For over a decade, Dr. Head was the medical director of Marin County’s Hospice By The Bay. She knows firsthand the breadth of difficulties a person and their family members face when given the diagnosis of cancer. She combines medical knowledge and her own personal experience with cancer to provide her patients with information in a context that they can understand. Her role at Hospice By The Bay has added an important dimension to her work as an oncologist.

A compassionate healing professional, Bobbie Head is involved in the advancement of her profession on many levels, including advising the California Breast Cancer Research Program. Dr. Head has been named one of the “Bay Area's Best Doctors." She is known in the community for her expertise, dedication, and commitment to her patients. Dr. Head, in turn, takes her inspiration from her patients - "I learn from them and admire them. I am in awe of the dignity and bravery I see every day".
