MARIN MAN-TO-MAN
Dan Goltz, Marv Edelstein, Woody Weingarten

Marin Man-to-Man is a unique support group for spouses of women affected by breast cancer. Representing the group are Dan Goltz, Marv Edelstein and Woody Weingarten, who found their own comfort and strength through Marin Man-to-Man and continued on to repay that debt by offering the same solace and experience to others facing the uncertainties of a loved one's breast cancer diagnosis.

Strangers who have become fast friends, all three admit to an initial reluctance to participate that evolved into a lasting appreciation and understanding that attitude is a key ingredient in survival. In a nomination submitted by their wives, Carol Goltz, Maria Edelstein and Nancy Fox acknowledge the vital influence of their husbands and Marin Man-to-Man throughout the healing process and credit the group with transforming their own experiences into healing support and emotional strength for others.

A somewhat reluctantly retired architect, Dan, and Marv, a retired electrical engineer, join Woody, who serves as managing editor of J, the Jewish News Weekly, in urging other spouses to give their informal breakfast meetings a try. Although the members are apt to talk about, and even laugh about, virtually anything, their emphasis is on making newcomers, and each other feel less isolated, uncertain, misunderstood, or afraid. See Marin Man-to-Man for more information and their meetings.
